I spent my 20s travelling, fucking about and working every job under the sun. I don't think I have ever stepped foot into a university, but I always knew that one day I wanted to be my own boss. In 2019 I launched my first business, Lulo Floral, in New York City. I had no clue what I was doing, I didn't even own a laptop and found anything ‘tech related’ daunting and overwhelming. What I did have was a ton of delusion, a solid community and the yapping skills to convince Vanessa Hudgens to the floral workshop that launched my first biz. After the pandemic, and a lot of years working hospo jobs to support my business, I was at rock bottom, living pay check to pay check at 35yrs old. I gave myself 6 months to turn my life around and by the end of 2022 I was self employed and turning over $300k usd a year. In 2024 I was making florals for the biggest celebrities in the world and was paid 100k usd to design florals for a 3 day wedding in Greece. I had a roster of over 12 freelancers working for me and had trained many women to start their own floral careers. In 2025 I threw it all in to move back to Australia and with the sale of my business I was able to launch and open the doors to Date Night Studio. Since opening in September 2025, we have already reached $300k and counting. My biggest takeaway after building 2 successful businesses in 2 different countries? The fear of being in the same place a year from now is far greater than the unknown of just trying something new. Every single risk taken is a road towards something way greater than I ever have imagined!
